Land of Enchantment Fly-In !

The Land of Enchantment Fly-In was Saturday August 26 at Double Eagle Airport out on the west mesa of Albuquerque  For anyone interested in getting up close and personal with aircraft, pilots and airports it was a fun time. I gave a presentation on the Future of Air Traffic Control in the early afternoon. The presentation is FAAST certified for Wings Credit.

5/20/17    Rose helps ECOPA Prepare for What’s Coming!

The editors of Plane and Pilot News, Tim and Beverly Hartong, sponsored Rose’s visit to the East Central Ohio Pilot’s Association.

And what an excellent experience that was!

Rose was visiting family in Indiana, so Tim Hartong and CFII Steve Smith flew Tim’s Piper Comanche to Greenwood airport (HFY) and picked her up.  The trip back was exciting as Tim and Steve used onboard radar to navigate around summer storm activity. We flew IFR at FL090 which was between two overcast layers.  The views of the clouds were fabulous!

Rose was treated to dinner at a local restaurant and stayed the night with the Hartongs in a house they designed and built. A lovely design complete with state of the art built in electronic systems, the house sits on enough acreage that they have their own runway out back behind the Workshop!

The day broke gray and drizzly but more than 30 members of ECOPA braved the weather to come out for Rose’s presentations on using the FSS PilotWeb site for self briefing and filing ICAO flight plans.

After Hot Dogs on the grill, Tim and another CFII pilot flew me back to Greenwood in another member’s Piper Navajo.  This time I got to sit in the right seat and had a closer look at the new Garmin instrumentation.

Thanks to ECOPA and the Hartongs for a fabulous visit!
